A round up of Ventura flea markets – yes, there are several!
Our LA Flea Calendar features vintage events all over the huge Greater Los Angeles area, but usually no Ventura flea markets. Our flea market in Woodland Hills is in northern Los Angeles next to Calabasas and Agoura, the gateway to beautiful Ventura County so we have loads of shoppers from up north. Since there are more and more great places to pick in Thousand Oaks, Moorpark, Oxnard and of course, the city of Ventura itself I thought it was about time to blog about it. These are worth a visit!
RG Canning’s Ventura Flea Market
This flea takes place about a half dozen times a year at the Ventura Fair Grounds. Close to the breezes of the harbor, it’s hosted by the owner of the Rose Bowl Flea Market. It’s much smaller, but still boasts 300 to 500 sellers of vintage, new items and fun fair food. Check their site for exact dates at https://www.rgcshows.com/ventura/
The Wednesday Ventura Flea Market is one of our vendors’ fave picking spots!
There are two Ventura different flea markets at Ventura Fair Grounds, this Wednesday one plus the RG Canning show on various Sundays. The Wednesday flea is only a $1 to enter and there’s a variety of sellers with vintage, gently used and new items and even some farmers. Fun fact, this show is the one that inspired Lori and I to start Topanga Vintage Market. Simple and fun. But we decided to make ours a vintage and antique market only. Check out these reviews and info on Trip Advisor. (TIP: the Amtrak will drop you right at the fairgrounds for both these shows!)
The Market at Ventura College is A bit more on the swap meet side. It takes place every weekend with over 300 sellers. Could be good picking if you have the patience to dig!
Barnhouse Vintage Market pops up around Ventura at The Oaks in Thousand Oaks and at Camarillo Airport and even as far north as Santa Barbara.
It’s a fun collaboration led by Lorzel of @barnhousechicksmarket with popular local Ventura vintage vendors like @debrahalllifestyle , @carolinahousedesigns , @myhundredyearoldhome , @ittybittyvintageshop and more great lovers of shabby, chippy, antique and country style. The best way to keep up with Lorzel is on her instagram.
The VintageNUnique shop in Thousand Oaks holds a small vintage Pop Up market
where several of our dealers join their more northerly neighbors for a fun day of selling several times a year. At any given show you may find our fab dealers @mcm4eeis, @geraldine_vintage, @chabeli_finds or @usavintagesocal! The shop itself is open all month long. Follow them all on instagram, too!
The Great Junk Hunt rolls into town once a year on its West Coast circuit. While not strictly a Ventura flea market, it’s a gathering of top local antique sellers and farmhouse style fans along with others from as far as Oregon and Arizona. Why does GJH choose to join all these great Ventura flea markets? Because Ventura is full of antique buyers and junkers!
Just look at all the cute “old town” neighborhoods like the one in Moorpark. Check out @highstreetvintage, an antique mart set in a 1920’s gas station in the charming old section of town. Enjoy “sip’n’shops” on Friday nights and fun openings in the garden by @heartsofjade. Look for great Americana from our seller @in2thgoodstuff.
Camarillo isn’t just for factory outlet shopping, its Old Town has fun events and great shops like @greengoddessboutique where you’ll get personal styling for a great vintage look.
And of course, Main Street Ventura has a great “old time” feel with local shops and restaurants including many antique stores, small bookstores, thrift shops, art galleries, and lots of great restaurants and bars featuring live music.
