RG Canning’s famous Rose Bowl Flea Market is a flea market mecca!
But do you know the other Pasadena flea market mecca?
Pasadena City College Flea Market, aka PCC Flea, of course!
Rose Bowl is an experience unto itself, but PCC gets our vote for mecca because of its:
- 400+ devoted vintage sellers
- famous section devoted to music on vinyl, tapes and CD’s
- free entry and only $2 for very convenient parking
- cool covered garage set up
- and all the proceeds support scholarships for this awesome college!
Since we’re at Pierce College we like to call ourselves PCC’s “little sister flea.” But she is much older than us, having started in 1977, and she has twice as many vendors. We have a lot of growing to do!
Started in 1977 by two PCC students looking for a fun way to start a scholarship fund for the college, it quickly became known as LA’s “1st Sunday” flea market. Rose Bowl had already claimed the 2nd Sunday of the month, but Pasadena’s many antique buyers were ready for more. And now Pasadena is truly a flea market mecca, with visitors from all over the world arriving every month to shop for cool LA vintage style.
So when Lori and I were starting Topanga Vintage Market we went hunting for awesome sellers at PCC flea and were lucky to cajole some of its regulars to our show. Here are a few greats that regularly sell at both PCC and TVM:
John Miner – famous for super clean, rare vintage vinyl. Follow him on instagram and facebook to find other great events centered around records.
Find @bima.as.herself in the PCC garage as well, with a selection of mid-century and Peruvian vintage. Now that’s a cool combo.
Happy Customer at Bima’s stall at PCC
For a beautifully curated selection of vintage clothing, we recommend The Wildlands Vintage, formerly Geraldine Vintage, for both men and women.
And our friends at @ccsfabulousfinds, who have retired to Texas.
We hope you’ll visit our big sister PCC Flea on the 1st Sunday of the month, and our show on the 4th Sunday!
And if it’s one of those other Sundays, check our LA Flea Calendar for more great events 🙂
